Abstract

Perception of high work burden on nurses at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) could be viewed from some aspects: 1) work burden, 2) work condition, and 3) stress. Nurses’ complaints on high work burden could influence the implementation of nursing care documentation. The percentage of good implementation was only 41,2%. This condition was one of the problems which must be immediately overcame by the public hospital managemnt of Kudus District. The objective of this research was to analyze the influence of high work burden perception of nurses on the implementation of nursing care documentation standard at ICU of Kudus District Public Hospital. Most of the respondents perceived that they had high work burden (58.8%), uncomfortable work environment (70.6%), and work stess (58.8%). Most of the respondents had not implemented standard of nursing care document well (58.8%). The result of bivariate analysis showed that variables of work burden perception (p=0.001), perception of work environment (p=0.036), and work stress (p=0.001) had a significant relationship with the implementation of nursing care documentation standard (p<0.05). Based on multivariate analysis, variables of work burden peception (p=0.000; Exp (B)=2.752), perception of work environment (p=0.018; Exp (B)=2.2.73), and work stress (p=0.000; Exp (B)=3.148) together influence the implementation of the nursing care documentation standard at ICU of Kudus District Public Hospital.
