Abstract
Penelitian penurunan kadar deterjen dalam limbah cair dengan pengendapan secara kimiawi telah dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengemhangkan metoda dan proses pengolahan awal limbah cair yang mengandung deterjen dengan konsentrasi relatif besar, sehingga limbah tersebut dapat dikurangi konsentrasinya sampai derajat yang bermakna ( > 75 % ). Percohaan ini dilakukan dalam rangkaian alat kolom fluidisasi ( 10 cm x 10 cm x 50 cm) dan pengendapan bertingkat. Limbah buatan deterjen masuk ke dasar kolom yang terisi bahan pengendap setinggi sepertiga kolom. Variabel percobaan adalah konsentrasi deterjen (1-4 gr /1) dan jenis pereaksi (kalsium hidroksida, kalsium sulfat, magnesium karbonat, dan magnesium hidroksida), dan pH air limbah (7-10). Data yang diperoleh diolah dengan analisis varian 3-nisi menyilang. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan kalsium hidroksida dan kalsium sulfat merupakan pereaksi yang baik untuk menurunkan kadar deterjen (MBAS) dengan hasil yang hampir sama dalam segi kadar deterjen pada effluen. Penurunan fosfat tidak sebesar penurunan deterjen karena fosfat dalam bentuk polifosfat dalam deterjen mempunyai sifat sequestering terhadap ion Ca dan Mg. ABSTRACT The objective of the research is to develop a method anf preliminary treatment process of wastewater containing highly concentrated detergent, furthermore, it can be reduced to a significant value ( > 75 %). Experiments were conducted in a rectangular flat bottomed fluidized column ( 10 cm x 10 cm x 50 cm), constructed of glass and three stages of sedimentation column. Artificial detergent liquid waste flows to the bottomed of the bottom of fluidized column containing precipitating agent of one third column high. The experiment variables are detergent concentration (1-4 gill), precipitating agent (calcium hydroxide, calcium sulfate, magnesium carbonate, and magnesium hydroxide), and pH of wastewater (7-10). The data obtained is treated by Three Crossed Classification Analysis of Variant. The experiments resulted that calcium hydroxide and calcium sulfate are better in decreasing/reducing detergent concentration (MBAS) in wastewater, and both showed a result that detergent concentration in effluent is almost similar. The performance of both agents in case of reducing phosphate concentration is lower than detergent. This is because of phosphate in the form of polyphosphate is a sequestering agent of Ca and Mg ions
