Immobilization of humic acid into the chitin has been performed. Our goal is obtaining powerful I humic—chitin adsorben of higher quality compared than humic acid or chitin alone.Chitin was obtained through isolation from crab (Portunus pelagicus Linn) shell in addition of humic acid isolation from Rawapening peat soil. Chitin has been extracted from crab cell through rinshing and washing by sodium hypochlorite solution, deproteination using NaOH solution, and demineralization using HCl aqueous solution. Humic acid was extracted from peat soil using.0.1 M NaOH aqueous solution under nitrogen atmosphere. Peat soil rinsing was carried out in the NaOH solution during 24 hour. Humic acid crystal was obtained using sentrifuge. Both of chitin and humic acid was characterized by means of FT—IR spectrophotometric methods as well as humic—chitin system. The FT—IR spectra show that isolate obtained are actually chitin and humic acid. Depend on the crab species, isolation of chitin give 32 — 51 % of yield. The pH adjustment of impregnation strongly affect the success of immobilization. Unsuccessful' immobilization has been obtained at pH of about 5 and 10. Bath mode give higher humic acid yield (1.43 %) as compared to flow mode (0.018 — 0.41 %).
