Abstract

Background : Haemostatic is a physiologic process. Blood clotting is one of it’s mechanism. As we know, routine exercises had related to heart attack risk decrease, while heavy and long exercises were connected to heart attack related-sudden death infarct. On the other side, exercise had known to be afflicted to coagulation and fibrinolysis. It was supposed involved through increase of Factor VIII, dehydrations which changed blood biochemical compositions, and activation of Factor VII antigen (FVII-Ag) Objective : Generally, the aim of this study is to compare the effect of light exercise times on blood clotting time by comparing whole blood clotting time after two different times on normal male human subjects Method : This was a quasi-experimental study with Pre-Posttest design. Subjects were male student 18-25 years old. Samples were taken by purposive random sampling from population of medical students. Subjects were asked to exercising with ergocycle ; loaded with 1,5 N ; for 6 minutes in day 1st and 12 minutes in the next day. Clotting times were measured with duke method. Later, distributions and normalities were tested with K-S test. Means comparation were tested with paired t-test ; using SPSS 15.0 for Windows software. Result : Exercise times are affecting the coagulations cascade. There was shown by a reduction in whole blood clotting time averages after 6 minutes exercise compared with 12 minutes exercise. The result of paired t-test showed that there were significant differences (p<0.05) Keyword : Coagulation, exercise, Whole blood clotting time, ergocycle
