Abstract
Background: Everyone always wants to maintain his fitness. Blood pressure is one of the sign of the healthy body and fitness. There are so many ways to maintain body fitness; one of them is by exercise regularly. One of many aerobic exercises that have been known well is Yoga. The aim of this study is to know the effect of well programmed Hatha Yoga exercise for 12 weeks can decrease 50 years old and above women’s blood pressure. Method: This was a quasi experimental study with One Group Pre and Post Test Design. Samples were taken by purposive sampling based on inclusion criteria. Data is received from toe-touch test in the early study, 4th, 8th, 12th week. The difference of toe-touch test in the early study, 4th, 8th, 12th week were analyzed with friedman test and followed by wilcoxon test. The difference is significant if p< 0.05. Result: From 37 samples who exercise Hatha Yoga for 12 weeks, data analysis show that there is significant difference in diastole blood pressure (p<0.05) but there is no significant difference in systole blood pressure (p>0.05) Conclusion: Hatha Yoga exercise for 12 weeks can decrease 50 years old and above women’s diastole blood pressure but there is no decrease in systole blood pressure.
