Abstract
Background : Listeria monocytogenes can cause impairment of immune system especially cellular immunity. Besides that, the used of BCG can increase cellular immunity response. Objective : The aim of this study was to know the effects of BCG vaccination on Balb/c mice infected with Listeria monocytogenes in the count of microabses increase and hepatosit damage. Method and Subject : This study was laboratory experimental and The Post Test Only Control Groups Design. Twelfth female of Balb/c divided 2 groups and received standard diet daily. The first group (control group/K) received no other additional treatment. The second group (BCG group/BCG) received intra peritoneal injection of 0,1 cc BCG at day 1st and day 11th. At day 21th, two groups were injected 0,1 cc intravenously with 105 live Listeria monocytogenes (LD50 = 2x105 bacteria) and at day 26th, all mice were killed. The difference of data were analyzed by Independent T test. Result : The microabses count and hepatosit damage of K group higher and more significant than BCG group (p<0,05). Conclusion : BCG Vaccination can restore immune response indicated by decrease of microabses count and hepatosit damage of Balb/c mice. Keywords : BCG, microabses, hepatosit, L. monocytogenes.
