Abstract

Determination of the coal spreading and coal quality is important in coal exploration. Determination of the coal spreading use in the manufacture of coal layer model, while the determination of coal quality is useful for evaluating the feasible or not coal is being mined and to knowing they have the potential to supply the market demand. This final task was developed with the aim is to determine the pattern of coal spreading Seam A and Seam B, knowing the coal quality spreading based on the parameters of moisture content, ash, sulfur, fixed carbon and caloryfic values, and knowing the rank coal research areas based on ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials). Methods used to this research are the field survey methods, descriptive methods, and analytical methods. Survey methods done by taking data directly in the field. descriptive method done with identify coal Seam A and Seam B which includes the identification of geophysical logs and megascopic identification of core drilling results. Analytical method is qualitative analysis which is determine the distribution of coal quality Seam A and Seam B based on the analysis of water content, ash, sulfur, fixed carbon and caloryfic values and the result is isoquality maps created using surfer 8 software, autocad and corel draw. Coal spreading patterns of Seam A and Seam B in research areas consistently well with the stretch direction of northwest-southeast and relatively thick coal. The value of the quality parameters of each coal Seam A has an average content of Inherent Moisture (IM) are 13.94%, ash content are 3.57%, the content of Total Sulfur (TS) are 0.15%, Fixed Carbon content ( FC) are 39.89%, and the content Calorific Value (CV) are 5412 Cal / g. While the quality value of each parameter Seam B coal has an average content of Inherent Moisture (IM) are 14.20%, ash content are 3.96%, the content of Total Sulfur (TS)) are 0.13%, Fixed content carbon (FC) are 39.57%, and the content Calorific Value (CV) are 5536 Cal / g. Based on the results of calculation and coal classification using the ASTM’s standard coal Seam A has a calorific value of 9741.6 Btu / lb, while the Seam B has a calorific value of 9964.8 Btu / lb which both entered in the category Sub Bituminus B.
