Abstract

Background: Analgesic must be given to prevent feel of pain after operation. Tramadol usually is used as analgesic after operation. Tramadol must be given rational to get effective therapy. The effective therapy is therapy that can reduce feel of pain after operation as maximal as possible, side effect and cost. Objective: The purpose of this research was to know the rationality of tramadol analgesic giving after operation in Dr. Kariadi Hospital Semarang. Method: This study was retrospective descriptive design. From 177 samples will be notched dosage, time interval and the way of giving of tramadol analgesic after operation. Data was processed with SPSS 15.0 for Windows then will be looked for the rationality based dosage, based time interval, based the way of giving and based dosage, time interval and the way of giving. Because of all tramadol analgesic giving after operation in Dr. Kariadi Hospital Semarang were given intravenous so rational if dosage 50 – 100 mg with time interval 8 hours and the way of giving were being solute or injected slowly. Result: The rationality based dosage 99,4 %, based time interval 93,2 %, based the way of giving 95,5 % and based dosage, time interval and the way of giving 91,5 %. Conclusion: The real rationality of tramadol analgesic giving after operation in Dr. Kariadi Hospital Semarang must include 3 points were correct of dosage, time interval and the way of giving. So the rationality of tramadol analgesic giving after operation in Dr. Kariadi Hospital Semarang was 91,5 %. The most factor that influence the rationality was irrationality of time interval.
