Abstract

Exclusive breast feeding program was a service to pregnant women, nursing mothers who had 0-6 month old infants. In 2000, the program was re-activated but in reality the program was difficult to operate and it was shown by the low program coverage. The objective of the study was to analyze the implementation of exclusive breastfeeding at puskesmas (primary health center) in Semarang city. This was a descriptive-explorative study using qualitative method. Eight exclusive breast feeding program officers in puskesmas, 4 head of puskesmas and 2 policy makers from Semarang city health office were included as the main informants. Triangulation informants consisted of 4 nursing mothers who have 0-6 month old infants
