Abstract

Coal is formed from accumulation of plant debris with cellulose (organic subtance) as principal composition. Coalification is associated with chemical and physical process. That is formed by the transformation of cellulose through lignite, subbituminous, bituminous, and anthracite. According to quality and quantity, Muara Wahau, that is one of East Borneo region, has pretty good accumulation and spreading of coal layers. Wahau Site had 3 coal layers from 6 main coal layers at Wahau Formation. Research focus is seam X, that is the toppest and the thicknest coal layer at Wahau Site. The products of stratigraphic correlation analysis and structure control by cross section of on strike and cross strike are 3 dimension (3D) spreading pattern, that is give details information about seam X geometry. Descriptive analysis about seam X geometry are: net coal thickness between 15,15 up to 56,50 meters, slope pattern is slope slightly between 1o up to 12o, the area of top layer (roof) is 7.973.000 m2 and the area of bottom layer (floor) is 7.850.000 m2, average thickness is 31,50 m, so the volume is 249.215.400 m3, position of the layer formed is arranged pattern, coal layer spreading between 1 up to 3,5 km, coal layer form is sheeting, there are some geology structure like hinge point of anticline at the South of map, with directional axis from the North-West to the South-East (N167oE/5o), and then any left backlimb of anticline at the North and the South-East of map, backlimb of anticline at the North have backlimb direction from the North-West to the South-East (N113oE/5o), and backlimb of anticline at the South-East have backlimb direction from South-West to the North-East (N225oE/2o). Between hinge point of anticline at the South of map and the backlimb of anticline at the North and the South-East of map, any sincline with directional axis from North-West to the South-East (N110oE/2o) at the Centre of map and at the South-East of map have directional axis from South-West to the North-East (N35oE/2o).
