Abstract

Background: Testosterone (Androgen) deficiency in men has same symptoms that could be analog with menopause of women, which called andropause.The signs and symptoms caused by decreasing of testosterone level in men might be begun at thirties. The problem, there was no research that gives information about the prevalence of andropause in Indonesia especially in Yogyakarta. This research has a goal to know the prevalence of andropause in man above 30 years old at Sleman regency 2005. Method: This research was a descriptive study with survey observational type. Samples were taken with simple random sampling method from men 30 years old in Sleman Regency as population,totaly 120 samples then to be interviewed based on ADAM (Androgen Deficiency in Aging Male) questioner and AMS (Aging Male Symptoms) questioner and other additional questioners. Result: This research shows that the prevalence of andropause of 120 respondents up to 30 years old man on 2005 in Sleman Regency are 55,84 % based on ADAM questionnaire. From the prevalence number most of them suffered mild andropause (48,33 %). 5,84 % respondents experienced moderate andropause and 1,67 % respondents experienced severe andropause. According to AMS questionnaire about 94,17 % men felt the decrease of their health and quality of life. Conclusion: The prevalence of andropause of 120 respondents up to 30 years old man on 2005 in Sleman Regency are 55,84 % based on ADAM questionnaire and 94,17 % based on AMS questionnaire.
