Abstract
Background: Depression is a symptom that has been observed since long time and it is a phsyciatric problem health now. Psychosocial stressor is something that change a person’s life, and force him/her to adapt or solve the problems. Sex, education, marital status are several factors influencing the incidence of depression. Natural disaster such as landslide in Banjarnegara on 4 January 2006, which killed at least 75 people can lead to depression. Objective: To define the relationship between sex, education, and marital status to depression in landslide victims in Banjarnegara. Methods: Analytic study with Cross Sectional approach was done among landslide victims in Banjarnegara. Thirty three subjects were landslide victims that fulfilled the inclusion criteria. The data were taken on January 2006, one week after disaster in Sijeruk and Kendaga village in Banjarnegara. The depression were measured by Zung Self-rating Depression Scale (ZSDS). The data were analyzed by t-test and Kruskal-Wallis. Result: Analysis showed that there was a significant difference between sex and marital status with depression among landslide victims in Banjarnegara, but education did not. From 33 subjects, showed that 19 had mild depression, and 13 had moderate depression Conclusion: Sex and marital status had significant difference with depression (p<0,05) among landslide victims.
