Abstract
The mangrove ecosystem is a natural resource in the tropical areas. It has various benefits and influences in terms of social, economic and ecological aspects. The dependencies and association of so many kind of plants and animals including human beings, within mangrove communities marked the importance of this particular ecosystem. The aims of this study is to distinguish the rate of litter fall decomposition of Rhizophora mucronata grown in the intensive and those from the extensive tambaks. The result showed that, after 6 weeks of immersion in the field, the rate of decomposition of mangrove litter fall of R. mucronata in the intensive tambaks is significantly lower 85,37% than the decomposition rate of litter fall from the extensive tambaks, i.e. 98,91%.
