Abstract
This research was inspired by the freshmen's opinion that listening is difficult subject. On the other hand, they have to gain the skill and a good mark in order to follow the! higher level of learning and teaching process. The research aims to find out the problems the (freshmen have in following the listening course. The probleps were analyzed in order to find the solution. Data were collected from the answers given by the to respondents thugh questionnaires. The questions wen about their opinion about the listening tasks given. To find hut the difficulties they faced in listening, the subjects were given a set of test covering comprehension, and completion. The result shows that the problems encountered thwn, are: a. Speed in pronunciation (native speakers speak too fast) b. Lack of vocabulary c. Unfamiliar test types d. unreliable facilities These problems make them have some mistakes in doing the test. The solution provided was based on the kinds of Mistakes. As a. result the learning and teaching process in listening can be maximized
