Abstract
The rapid growth of industnal activities in Semarang City still needs potential areas for the future. As the period of Master Plan of Semarang City (1975-2000) will be end up soon, it needs pre study as an input of the continuing Master Plan which will be planned. Therefore, this study is also one of inputs, particularly from the industrial sector. This study uses two steps of analysis. They are Factor Analysis Methods for identification sub disuict (called kecamatan) potential and Super Impose Methods using Geographic Information System for more detail information of identification potential First, Factor Analysis Methods is a part of Multivariate Methods in Statistical Science, which have been developing and used in many disciplines, such as in politics, social, regional planting, industrial engineering, agriculture etc. Factor Analysis Methods enable to reduction many variables into some groups of factors, which every group contains variables in same characteristics. Besides, Factor Analysis Method can define the observation areas to many categorise of potential area (in this case of the observation unit is kecamatan). The second step of analysis is Super Impose Methods using Geographic Information System. By using GIS, overlay of some maps can be executed for a specific purpose. In this study GIS give more detail information about the potential location for industry. The result of ibis study is an information system of potential location for industrial activities in Semarang. The spatial information is a detail area (polygon shape) of potential location which spread through out the city. The list of the locations from the most potential to the less is respectively - Kecamatan Genuk, Banyumanik, Pedunmgsn, Semarang Barat, Tembalang Red Candisan. In the end of this study, other further studies are proposed. Semakin cepatnya penumbuhan industri di Semarang. memenukan lokasblokesi potensial sebagai pengembangan kawasen industri di masa yang akan datang. Metode enalisis yang kedua adalah metode tumpang tindih dengan bantuan Sister° Infermasi Geografis (SIG). Darman SIG, analisis tumpang tindih terhadap peta-peta input dapat dilakukan untuk menghesillain pets output untuk tujuan talentu. Dalam studi ini SIG akan membmikan infmmasi seam Ida detail lokasi¬'<Masi potensial untuk kegiatsn industri. Kalman dad studi ini adslah sistem informasi mengenai kebendaan lokasi-lokasi potensial untuk kegiataa industri, yang %isobar di Kodya Semarang. Ulnae lokasi-lokasi potensial tersebut adabh sebagai herilcut : Kerminatan Gawk, Banyumattik, nedunutgan, Semarang Banat, Tembalang dan Candisari. Dibagian akhir studi ini dikemukOcan heherapa alternatif studi lanjut yang dapat dilakelnui demi sempurnenya annelidan ire.
