Abstract
Immobilization of humic acid into the chitin and chitosan has been performed. The research goal is obtaining novel humic-chitin and humic-chitosan adsorbents of higher quality compared to humic acid, chitin, and chitosan alone. Chitin was obtained through isolation from crab (Porlunus pelagicus Linn) shell, as chitosan in which obtained through chitin transformation. Humic acid has been obtained by means of alkalis isolation from Rawapening peat soil. Chitin has been extracted from crab cell via deproteination using 0.1 M NaOH solution and demineralization using 0.1 M HCl aqueous solution. Advance refluxing of chitin in 0.1 M NaOH solution provide solid chitosan. Humic acid was extracted from peat soil under nitrogen atmosphere. Peat soil rinsing was carried out in the 0.1 M NaOH solution during almost 30 hour. Humic acid crystal was obtained using 15,000 rpm centrifugation. Novel humic-chitin and humic-chitosan adsorbents was prepared using sol-gel immobilization metods. Both of chitin and chitosan was dissolved in the 0.1 M HCl separately, as well as humic acid in 0.1 M NaOH. Mixing acidic chitin and chitosan solution with alkalis humic acid solution, followed by filtering and under nitrogen flow drying give solid humic-chitin and humic-chitosan adsorbent results. Chitin, chitosan, humic acid, humic-chitin, and humic-chitosan adsorbents was characterized using FT-1R spectrophotometer. Depend on the exploration time and sites of peat soil in Rawapening, isolation of humic acid give 0.06 - 1.71 % of yield. The pH adjustment of sol-gel preparation strongly affect the success of immobilization. The FT-IR spectra show that solid results are actually chitin, chitosan, and humic acid. Change in spectral pattern of humic-chitin and humic¬chitosan spectra from chitin, chitosan, and humic acid one indicate chemical interaction of humic acid with chitin and chitosan. Absorption results show insolubility of humic-chitin, and humic-chitosan in the aqueous phase under the wide range of pH condition, even from 1 up to 12. Humic-chitosan system show higher absorption capability to Ag(l), Ni(II), and Cr(III) compared to humic-chitin one. Imobilisasi asam humat pada kitin dan kitosan telah dilakukan. Tujuannya adalah mendapatkan mendapatkankan adsorbent barn humat-kitin dan humat-kitosan berkualitas tinggi dibandingkan asam humat maupun kitin dan kitosan sendiri. Kitin didapatkan dari cangkang kepiting (Portunus pelagicus Linn) melalui isolasi, sedangkan kitosan didapatkan melalui transformasi kitin. Asam humat diperoleh dengan cara isolasi alkalis dari tanah gambut Rawapening. Kitin diekstraksi dari cangkang kepiting melalui deproteinasi menggunakan larutan NaOH 0,1 M dan demineralisasi menggunakan larutan HCl 0,1 M. Refluks selanjutnya, menggunakan larutan NaOH 0,1 M dilakukan untuk menghasilkan kitosan. Asam humat diekstraksi dari tanah gambut di babwah kondisi atmosfer nitrogen. Perendaman tanah gambut dilakukan di dalam larutan NaOH 0,1 M selama kurang lebih 30 jam. Kristal asam humat didapatkan melalui sentrifugasi 15.000 rpm. Adsorben barn humat--kitin dan humat-kitosan dibuat berdasarkan metode imobilisasi sol¬gel. Kitin maupun kitosan dilarutkan secara terpisah ke dalam larutan HO 0,1 M sedangkan asam humat dilarutkan di dalam larutan NaOH 0,1 M. Pencampuran larutan kitin dan kitosan asidik dengan asam humat alkalis, yang diikuti dengan penapisan dan pengeringan di bawah kondisi aliran nitrogen, menghasilkan adsorben humat-kitin dan humat-kitosan padat. Kitin, kitosan, asam humat, humat-kitin, dan humat-kitosan dikaracterisasi menggunakan spektrofotometer FT-IR. Bergantung pada waktu dan tempat eksplorasinya di Rawapening, isolasi asam humat memberikan variasi hasil 0,06 - 1,71 %. Pengaturan pH adjustment preparasi sol-gel berpengaruh kuat terhadap keberhasilan imobilisasi. Spektra FT-IR memperlihatkan bahwa hasil yang didapatkan adalah kitin, kitosan, dan asam humat. Perubahan pola spektral humat-kitin dan humat-kitosan dari spektra kitin, kitosan., dan asam humat menunjukkan adanya interaksi kimiawi antara asam humat dengan kitin maupun kitosan. Hasil eksperimen absorpsi memperlihatkan bahwa sistem humat-kitin dan humat-kitosan tidak larut di dalam fasa air pada rentang kondisi pH yang lebar, bahka.n dari 1 hingga 12. Sistem humat-kitosan memperlihatkan kemampuan absorpsi terhadap Ag(I), Ni(II), dan Cr(III) lebih tinggi dibanding sistem humat-kitin.
