Abstract

Background : Malaria drugs resistency made people interested in Indonesian medicinal plants as alternative prevented malaria, Bidara leaf extract was an example. Bidara leaf extract was known have advantages effect such as immunomodulator that contributes at protective effect against malaria and also hepatoprotector effect so disturbance of trigliserid metabolism could be prevented. This research was aimed to know the effect of Bidara leaf extract against trigliserid rate Balb/c mice that inoculated by Plasmodium berghei ANKA. Methods an materials : This study was an experimental study, used the post test only control group design. The samples were 90 mices got by simple random sampling and then divided by 2 groups, the treated group and control group. The treated group gets Bidara leaf extract 16,608 ml/day oral, started 11 days before inoculation until 8 days after inoculation. Serum trigliserid concentration were measured at 3th , 6h, and 8th day after inoculation. The control group gets CMC-Na 0,5 %. The different test between group day was processed Kruskal Wallis test and if there significant was continued by Mann-Whitney test. Result : Significant difference was not found in trigliserid concentration between treated and control groups during P. berghei infection. A significant increase of trigliserid concentrations of treated and control groups above normal value was observed on day 6 of infection. However, on day 8 of infection, only control group showed a significant increase trigliserid concentrations above normal value. Kinetic of trigliserid concentrations didn't show significant difference in treated group during the infection. On the other hand kinetic trigliserid concentrations in the control group on day 6 and 8 were significantly higher than day 3. Conlusion : Infection of Plasmodium berghei ANKA in Balb/c mice increase the trigliserid concentrations. Bidara leaf extract had protective effect which can maintain normal trigliserid concentrations on day 8 of infection. Kinetic of trigliserid concentrations proved that Bidara leaf extract maintained the trigliserid concentrations. Keywords : Bidara leaf extract, trigliserid rate, Plasmodium berghei ANKA. Latar belakang: Resistensi terhadap beberapa obat anti malaria membuat masyarakat tertarik pada tanaman obat Indonesia tmtuk mencegah dan mengobati penyakit malaria, salah satunya herbal atau ekstrak Daun Bidara. Herbal ini selain sebagai immunomodulator yang berkontribusi pada efek protektif terhadap parasit malaria, juga mempunyai efek hepatoprotektor sehingga gangguan metabolisme trigliserida dapat dikendalikan. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak Daun Bidara terhadap kadar trigliserida mencit Balb/c yang diinokulasi Plasmodium berghei ANICA. Bakal% dan Metoda: Desain penelitian ini adalah post test only control group. Sampel penelitian menggunakan 90 ekor mencit dewasa yang diperoleh secara simple random sampling, dibagi menjadi kelompok perlakuan dan kelompok kontrol. Kelompok perlakuan mendapat preparat ekstrak Daun Bidara 16,608 ml per had per oral, 11 had pre infeksi sampai 8 had post infeksi. Kelompok kontrol diberi CMC-Na 0,5%. Kadar trigliserida diamati pada had ke-3, ke-6, dan ke-8 pasca inokulasi. Uji beda antara kelompok perlakuan, kontrol dan normal serta antar had menggunakan uji Kruskal Wallis jika signifikan diteruskan dengan uji Mann-Whitney. Hasil: Kadar trigliserid had 3 infeksi kelompok perlakuan dan kontrol masih normal. Perbedaan bermakna tidak ditemukan pada kadar trigliserida kelompok perlakuan dibanding kontrol selama infeksi P. berghei ANKA. Peningkatan bermakna kadar trigliserida di atas nilai normal ditemukan baik pada kelompok perlakuan maupun kontrol pada hari ke-6 infeksi. Pada had ke-8 infeksi hanya kelompok kontrol yang menunjukan kadar trigliserid secara bermakna diatas normal. Kinetik kadar trigliserida kelompok perlakuan tidak berbeda bermakna selama infeksi. Kinetik kadar trigliserida, pada kelompok perlakuan secara bermakna lebih tinggi pada hari ke-6 dan 8 infeksi dibanding had 3. Tingginya kadar trigliserid pada kelompok kontrol bertahan sejak had ke 6 sampai 8 infeksi. Kesimpulan: Infeksi Plasmodium berghei ANKA pada mencit Balb/c berpengaruh meningkatkan kadar trigliserida. Ekstrak Daun Bidara mempunyai efek protektif menjaga kadar trigliserida normal pada had ke-8 infeksi malaria. Kinetik kadar trigliserida membuktikan ekstrak daun Bidara dapat mempertahankan kadar trigliserida selama malaria.
