Abstract

Background : Parasite resistance on malarian drugs has induced studies on traditional drugs. Tinospora crispa was one of the phytofarmaca which being studied as anti-malarian drug. This herb containing active component which can wedging P.berghei ANKA multiplication. This experimental aim to prove the effect of T.crispa on histopathologic features of Balb/c mice liver infected by P.berghei ANKA . Method : This experimental study with post test only control group design. Using 30 Balb/c male mice which were divided into 3 groups. The control group treated with CP 511. Group P1 treated with CP 511 and infected by P.berghei ANKA 1x 104 in 0,1 cc aquabides. Group P2 treated with CP 511, T.crispa extract 5,46 mg/day and infected by P.berghei ANKA 1 X 104 in 0,1 cc aquabides. Data obtained then analyzed with SPSS 13,0 for Windows program by using T-test, Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney test. Result : Outcome of Kruskal-Wallis test about the sum of kupffer cells was significantly ( p=0,001 ). And then continued with Mann-Whitney test and the outcome was significantly between all groups. The outcome were : between P1-K ( p=0,004 ), P2-K ( p=0,004 ), P1-P2 ( p=0,007 ). Outcome of T-test about the sum of malarian pigment between P1-P2 also significantly ( p=0,045 ). Conclusion : Tinospora crispa influence on inhibits the increment of kupffer cells and malarian pigment of Balb/c mice liver cells which infected by P.berghei ANKA. Key words : T.crispa, the sum of kupffer cells, malarian pigment, Balb/c mice, Plasmodium berghei ANKA
