PERBANDINGAN EFEKTIVITAS ABATE DENGAN PAPAIN DALAM MENGHAMBAT PERTUMBUHAN LARVA Aedes aegypti

Abstract

Background: Dengue Hemorrhagic fever is an acute hemorrhagic fever which can cause death. So it needs prevention to break the spreading of Aedes aegypti, which is the vector. Traditional drugs have been used generally as effort to prevent of illness or keep in good health, though there are also used as medication. Therefore, we need to think of how to prevent disease caused by dengue virus using traditional drugs. Objective: Compare the effectiveness between abate and papain in inhibit growth of Aedes aegypti’s larva on container. Method: This research is an experimental, and the design used in this research is parallel design with matching. Its used 9 containers with papain and 9 containers with abate, each contains 20 instars III/IV of Aedes aegypti’s larva. Data obtained will be tested with Kolmogorof-Smirnov test and continued with independent t- test. Result: There is significant different between mean of larva’s death caused by abate than papain. The mean of larva’s death caused by abate is 20.0000, and papain is 17.8889. These results was tested by independent t-test and got 0,002 of significance. Conclusion: Mean of larva’s death caused by abate is bigger than papain. Keywords: Aedes aegypti’s larva, abate, papain.
