Abstract
Background: One of the clinical conditions of malaria, is anemia cause by repeated haemolisys. Brotowali or Tinospora crispa (T.crispa) expected to pursue the repeated haemolisys of the infected erythrocyte. Objectives: The comparison of the erythrocyte amounts in the Swiss mice which was infected by Plasmodium berghei (P.berghei) giving kloroquin and T.crispa. Method: Research design is pre and post test control group. Sampel are 18 Swiss mice, divided into 3 groups randomly,control(K),treatment1(P1) and treatment2(P2). The three groups was injected with 104 P.berghei on the first day. On the third to fifth day, the P1 are given with kloroquin and the P2 are given with T.crispa’s stem extracts. On the first day to the seventh day, the blood sample will be examined the erythrocyte amounts. Analyzed data with Kruskal Wallis and Mann-Whitney. Results: Erythrocyte amounts between K and P1 is significant on the third to seventh day. Erythrocyte amounts between K and P2 is significant on the fourth to seventh day. Erythrocyte amounts between P1 and P2 isn’t significant Conclusion: There is no substantial difference of the erythrocyte amounts in the Swiss mice which was infected with P.berghei between given by kloroquin and T.crispa’s stem extracts Keywords: Tinospora crispa, chloroquine, erythrocyte amounts
