Abstract

The experiment was conducted to evaluate the influence of levels rice bran with Napier grass as a basal diet on edible portion of male indigenous sheep. Twelve yearling male indigenous sheep with initial body weight range from 18,23 to 23,63 kg were treated as followed TO = Napier grass ad libitum , T1 = Napier grass ad libitum + 200 g rice bran, T2 = Napier grass ad libitum + 400 g rice bran. The diet given based on the dry matter requirement for sheep was 3.6 % of body weight. Data gathered on slaughter weight, carcass and non carcass, edible portion of carcass and non carcass, and total edible portion were analyzed using anova for randomized block design, followed by polynomial orthogonal contrast. Result of the study showed that the addition of rice bran increased slaughter weight, weight and carcass percentage, non carcass percentage, weight of edible portion carcass and non carcass, weight and total edible portion percentage (P<0.05), but it did not influence of non carcass weight, edible portion carcass and non carcass percentage (P>0.05). The average slaughter weight of T0,T1, T2 were 21.200; 25.000; dan 25.980 g respectively, while carcass weight and DP for TO= 7.194,25 g (34,00%); T1 = 9.789,00 g (39,08%); T2 = 10.148,25 g (39,04%). The average edible portion of non carcass were TO 3.430,00 g (24,67%); T1 = 4.270,00 g (28,44%); dan T2 = 4.678,00 g (29,95%), whereas total edible portion of TO,T1,and T2 were 8.313,46 g (38,85%); 11.517,54 g (46,06%); dan 12.344,76 g (74,45%). It can be concluded that the addition rice bran of 200 and 400 g increased edible portion of male indigenous sheep. With increasing level of rice bran, it increased edible portion of carcass, non carcass and total edible portion. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh pemberian aras dedak padi dengan pakan basal rumput gajah terhadap produksi edible portion domba Lokal jantan. Duabelas ekor ekor domba Lokal jantan, berumur kurang lebih 12 bulan dengan rata-rata bobot badan awal 18,23 — 23,63 kg diberi perlakuan sebagai berikut : TO = rumput gajah ad libitum tanpa dedak padi, T1 = rumput gajah ad libitum+ 200 g dedak padi, T2 = rumput gajah ad libitum + .400 g dedak padi. Pakan diberikan berdasarkan kebutuhan Bahan Kering (BK) yaitu 3,6% dan bobot badan. Data tentang bobot potong, bobot dan persentase karkas serta non karkas, bobot dan persentase edible portion karkas, edible portion non karkas dan edible portion total dianalisis ragam pola Rancangan Acak Kelompok, dan dilanjutkan uji polynomial orthogonal. Basil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan dedak padi pada pakan basal rumput gajah meningkatkan bobot potong, bobot dan persentase karkas, persentase non karkas, bobot edible portion karkas, bobot edible portion non karkas serta bobot dan persentase edible portion total (P<0,05), namun tidak mempengaruhi bobot non karkas, persentase edible portion karkas, dan persentase edible portion non karkas (P>0,05) Rata-rata bobot potong TO, T1, T2 berturut-turut 21.200; 25.000; dan 25.980 g. Rata-rata bobot dan persentase karkas untuk TO = 7.194,25 g (34,00%); T1 = 9.789,00 g (39,08%); T2 = 10.148,25 g (39,04%). Rata-rata bobot dan persentase edible portion karkas TO, T1, dan T2 secara berturut-turut adalah 4.884,22 g (77,41%); 7.247,54 g (77,71%), dan 7.664,26 g (80,07%), Bobot dan persentase edible portion non karkas rata-rata untuk TO = 3.430,00 g (24,67%); T1 = 4.270,00 g (28,44%); dan T2 = 4.678,00 g (29,95%). Rata-rata bobot dan persentase edible portion total secara berturut-turut untuk TO, dan T2 adalah 8.313,46 g (38,85%); 11.517,54 g (46,06%); dan 12.344,76 g (74,45%). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian dedak padi sebanyak 200 dan 400 g meningkatkan edible portion domba Lokal jantan. Semakin tinggi aras pemberian dedak padi, semakin tinggi pula bobot edible portion karkas, bobot edible portion non karkas, dan bobot edible portion total yang dihasilkan.
