Abstract
Background : Breast cancer is the second most cancer in women after cervix cancer. Aloe vera as immunomudolator is expected to improve immune response, indicated by increasing mononuclear cells in the surrounding tumor cells. Methods : This experimental study was using post only control group design. 12 healthy C3H mices were randomly divided into 2 groups, control group and treated group. Both groups were inoculated by adenocarcinoma mammae cells. Control group was given only standard diet, treated group was given standard diet and 0,5 ml of Aloe vera juice per day for 3 weeks. On the fourth week, all mices were terminated, the mammae tissues were taken to be measured histopathologically. Observation of mononuclear cells infiltration was done on the 400 times magnification in 5 places and the grade was valued based on criteria according Sarjadi. The data was analyzed by Shapiro-Wilk test to confirm the normality of data distribution then tested by T-test independent if data were normal, or by Mann-Whitney nonparametric test if data were not normal. Result : The result of normality test showed that distribution of data from both of groups were abnormal with p=0,000 (p<0,05) for control group and p=0,000 (p<0,05) for treated group. There is a significant difference between control group and treated group with p=0,000 (p<0,05) Conclusion : Aloe vera juice feeding on C3H mice inoculated with mamary adenocarcinoma cells can improve immune response, indicated by increasing mononuclear cells in the surrounding tumor cells. Key words : Aloe vera, mononuclear cells infiltration, breast cancer
