Abstract
Background: Catharanthus roseus could inhibit the mitosis in tumor cell, while Curcuma xanthorhiza beside could activate immune system it also more triggered Catharanthus roseus to killed cancer. The objective of this research is to find out the effect of Catharanthus roseus and Curcuma xanthorhiza in Tumor Size macroscopically and Lungs Histology Description and axilla lymph MiceC3H inoculated by Adenocarcinoma mammae. Method: Laboratory experiment with “Post Test Only Control Group Design”. There were six samples of Mice C3H that inoculated with Adenocarcinoma mammae than divided into two groups randomly. First group as the controllers and the second were provided with Catharanthus roseus and Curcuma xanthorhiza. The treatment lasted for three weeks. Then the mice were killed and all tumors, lungs, and lymph were taken out. The tumors then were weighed and measured while the lungs and the lymph were seen its histology description. The data normality is tested with Kolmogorov-Smirnov, and continued with T-test and Mann-Whitney analysis. Result: The result shown that there were differences in weight (p= 0.024) and tumor volume (p=0.046) that means (p<0.05). It was not proved that there were any meta-static in lungs or axilla lymph in both groups. Conclusion: The providing of Catharanthus roseus 19.5 mg/object/day and Curcuma xanthorhiza 10.4 mg/object/day combination for three weeks resulted in the difference of weigh and volume of tumor. It also shown that there was no meta-static in lungs or axilla lymph in both groups. Keywords: Caranthasus roseus, Curcuma xanthorhiza, tumor size, lungs, and axilla lymph.
