Abstract

Backgrounds: Catharanthus roseus and Curcuma xanthorhiza are used as traditional treatment believed as anticancer, antiinflammatory, antimicrobial, antioxidant and also as antihepatotoxic. Catharanthus roseus contains alkaloids, Vinkristin and Vinblastin, have effect on mitotic microtubule polymeration so that the mitotic process in metaphase inhibited, whereas Curcuma xanthorhiza contains Curcumin which has effect on stimulate T cell and B cell. This study was to prove that difference effect of Catharanthus roseus and Curcuma xanthorhiza could increase mononuclear cell spread in C3H mice inoculated with Adenocarcinoma mammae. Method: Experimental research with the post test only control group design. Samples 15 C3H mice with specific criteria, divided into 3 groups randomly, which were inoculated previously with Adenocarcinoma mammae cell: K(only inoculated); P1(Catharanthus roseus extract 39 mg); P2(Curcuma xanthorhiza extract 20.8 mg). Termination was occurred after 3 weeks. Scoring technique used Sarjadi’s method. Normality test used Saphiro-Wilk test then was continued with Mann-Whitney. Result: Mean of K score was the lowest (1.42 ± 0.19) while P2 was the highest (1.96 ± 0.31). There were significant outcomes between P1 and P2 (p=0.046). Conclusion: The difference effect of Catharanthus roseus and Curcuma xanthorhiza was shown within the increasing of Mononuclear Cell. Key Words : Catharanthus roseus, Curcuma xanthorhiza, Mononuclear Cell, Adenocarcinoma mammae.
