Abstract
Characterisation of magnetic Hall effect sensor UGN 3503 and its application for mass measurement based on AT89S51 microcontroller have been done. This device can be used as mass measurement device at post office, chemical laboratory, and food industry. Characterisation done by drawing near sensor of UGN 3503 with source of permanent magnet and brand magnet. Then the next step is using Faraday cage for sensor and magnetic source. Then from result of characterization, application of sensor of UGN 3503 to measure mass have been made. By putting mass sample on the spiral, it creates a resilience and the sensor is approaching the magnetic source. The output voltage is proportional to the magnetic field. A differential op amp is used to gain the sensor output voltage. The result is converted by ADC 0804 to digital signal. Meanwhile, the digital signal will be proceed by AT89S51 microcontroller then display it on seven segment. This mass measurement system has been realized and works (can measuring equal to the refference). The measured value is equal with the known mass value. The level of mass which measurable is 1 – 10 gram with 500 mg accuracy scale.
