Abstract
Juice Before Endang Sri Sunarsih* and Slamet Pamuji* * Background: Hyperlipidemia as one of the factor of degerative disease has been increased recently. Aloe vera was supposed to decrease level of total cholesterol serum, because it contains of nikotinic acid, vitamin C, folic acid, selenium, magnesium, lipase enzyme, lignin and anthraquinon. The administration of vitamin C also suspects to increase the effect. Thus, a study determines the effect administration of vitamin C for total cholesterol serum level of the rats which have been given Aloe vera before. Methode: An experimental study using control group with pre and post test design was carried out to already make hyperlipidemic Wistar rats. They were given diet containing 4 ml Aloe Vera juice per day for 15 days. Then will be continued by administration of vitamin C 3,38mg and 11,25 mg doses for 3 days. Total cholesterol serum level was determined using CHOD-PAP method. Data were analyzed using paired t-test and one way ANOVA. The degree of significant was 5%. Result: The administration of Aloe vera juice were significantly (p=0.000) decreased the total cholesterol serum level of hiperpidemic rats. The administration of vitamin C also were significantly (p=0.000) more decreased the total cholesterol serum level which have been given Aloe vera juice before. Conclusion: The administration of vitamin C significantly reduced the total cholesterol serum level in hyperlipidemic rats which have been given Aloe vera juice before. Vitamin C doses in high dose also proved a significant effect in decrease totally cholesterol serum level, better than the lower. Keyword: Aloe vera, Vitamin C, total cholesterol serum, hyperlipidemic.
