Abstract

Metode : Penelitian ini merupakan eksperimental murni rancangan The Post Test Only Control Group. Sampel 20 tikus Wistar jantan berumur 3-4 bulan, dibagi acak menjadi 4 kelompok. Kelompok 1 (K1) hanya diberi diet standar 10 hari. Kelompok 2 (K2) diberi diet standar 8 hari, hari ke-8 diberi parasetamol 1350 mg/kgBB, dilanjutkan diet standar sampai hari ke-10. Kelompok 3 (K3) diberi diet standar dan ekstrak A. paniculata 500 mg/kgBB selama 8 hari, hari ke-8 diberi parasetamol 1350 mg/kgBB, dilanjutkan diet standar sampai hari ke-10. Kelompok 4 (K4) diberi diet standar 8 hari, hari ke-8 diberi parasetamol 1350 mg/kgBB, dilanjutkan ekstrak A. paniculata 500 mg/kgBB dan diet standar sampai hari ke-10. Kata Kunci : A. paniculata, parasetamol, bilirubin tak terkonjugasi, terkonjugasi, dan total. The Effect of Andrographis paniculata ( Sambiloto ) Extract toward Serum Bilirubin Level in Wistar Rat Administered with Paracetamol Anggia Rindjani L1, M. Masjhoer2 Background : Many researches reported the medical effect of A. paniculata extract in protecting the liver from hepatotoxic agents. The objective of this study was to find out the effect of A. paniculata extract in Wistar rat administered with paracetamol as hepatotoxic agent using serum bilirubin level. Methods : This research was a true experimental study, approached wih The Post Test Only Control Group. The samples were 20 male Wistar, 3-4 months of age, randomly divided into 4 groups. Group I (K1) was given standard diet for 10 consecutive days, without any treatment. Group II (K2) was given standard diet for 8 days, and on the8th day was given 1350 mg paracetamol per kg BW, continued standard diet until the 10th day. Group III (K3) was given standard diet and 500 mg A. paniculata extract per kg BW for 8 days, and given 1350 mg paracetamol per kg BW on the 8th day, continued standard diet until the 10th day. Group IV (K4) was given standard diet for 8 day, and given 1350 mg paracetamol per kg BW on the 8th day, continued with 500 mg A. paniculata extract per kg BW and standard diet on the 8th day until the 10th day. Blood was taken from retroorbita on the 10th day for serum bilirubin level examination. Result : Unconjugated, conjugated, and total bilirubin level at K2 increased significantly compared to K1. There was a significant lower of unconjugated, conjugated, and total bilirubin level at K3 and K4 compared to K2. Conclusion : A. paniculata extract was able to reduce unconjugated, conjugated, and total bilirubin level in Wistar rat administered with paracetamol Key Words : A. paniculata, paracetamol, unconjugated, conjugated, and total bilirubin.
