Abstract

The effect of glycine supplementation on hemoglobin level of 2nd semester pregnant women that receive iron supplement Background : iron deficiency in pregnant women has caused mortality and morbidity of mother and infants increase. Iron supplementation program can’t decrease this prevalency. Glycine, as one of the material to produce hemoglobin, is reasonable to be considered as alternative resolution. Hemoglobin level that lower than normal may indicate anemia. This research had a purpose to prove that glycine enrichment in iron supplementation program can affect hemoglobin level of 2nd semester pregnant women who suffer light-moderate anemia. Method: this research was a true experimental with double blind randomized control trial design. Samples consist of 30 second semester pregnant women with light-moderate anemic, divided into 2 groups, control group (receive plasebo) and treatment group (receive 500 mg glycine). The data were processed with SPSS 13.0 for windows, using Kolmogorov-Smirnov, paired t-test and independent t-test. Result: The result shows the control group mean hemoglobin level before the treatment was 9,916±0,89 mg/dl and after the treatment was 10,819±0,81 mg/dl (p=0,16). The treatment group mean hemoglobin level before treatment was 10,173±0,79 mg/dl and after the treatment was 10,627±0,86 mg/dl (p=0,09). While the control group mean difference hemoglobin level was 0,856±1,06 mg/dl and the treatment group was 0,433±0,76 mg/dl (p=0,272) Conclusion: The hemoglobin level of samples who receive placebo as well as they who receive glycine had no significant differences increase between before and after the treatment. While the mean difference hemoglobin level of samples with glycine had no significant effect than they with placebo. Keyword : Glycine, pregnancy, iron supplementation, hemoglobin Pengaruh Penambahan Glisin terhadap Kadar Hemoglobin Wanita Hamil Trimester Kedua yang Mendapat Suplemen Zat Besi Latar belakang :anemia defisiensi besi pada wanita hamil menyebabkan peningkatan morbiditas dan mortalitas baik ibu maupun janin. Program suplementasi besi belum mampu menurunkan angka kejadian anemia. Glisin, sebagai salah satu bahan baku pembentuk hemoglobin, layak dipertimbangkan sebagai alternatif penyelesaian. Kadar hemoglobin dibawah normal merupakan tanda anemia. Penelitian ini bertujuan membuktikan pengaruh penambahan suplemen glisin pada wanita hamil trimester kedua yang mendapat suplemen besi. Metode : penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental murni dengan desain penelitian double blind randomized control trial. Sampel terdiri dari 30 wanita hamil trimester kedua yang menderita anemia ringan-sedang, dibagi menjadi 2 kelompok yaitu kelompok kontrol (mendapat plasebo) dan kelompok perlakuan (mendapat glisin 500 mg). Data diolah dengan menggunakan program SPSS 13.0 for windows. Analisis dilakukan dengan uji Kolmogorov-Smirnof, paired t-test dan independent t- test Hasil : didapatkan rerata kadar hemoglobin kelompok kontrol sebelum perlakuan adalah 9,916±0,89 mg/dl dan sesudah perlakuan adalah 10,819±0,81 mg/dl (p=0,16). Kadar hemoglobin kelompok perlakuan sebelum perlakuan adalah 10,173±0,79 mg/dl dan sesudah perlakuan adalah 10,627±0,86 mg/dl (p=0,09). Sedangkan rerata selisih kelompok kontrol adalah 0,856±1,06 mg/dl dan kelompok perlakuan adalah 0,433±0,76 mg/dl (p=0,272). Kesimpulan : kadar hemoglobin sampel yang diberi plasebo maupun yang mendapat suplemen glisin tidak menunjukkan peningkatan yang bermakna antara sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan. Sedangkan rerata selisih kadar hemoglobin sampel yang mendapat suplemen glisin tidak ada perbedaan yang bermakna dengan rerata selisih sampel yang hanya mendapat plasebo.
