Abstract

Resently, the effects of pesticides in connection with public health and environmental health are getting worse. Therefore, to make improving these circumstances are urgent. This research was aimed to know possibility of bio¬accumulation of Carbaryl insecticide both on Nile fish (Oreochronis niloticus) an Carp fish (Cyatinus carpio) that had been researched on 26'n May 1996 - 5c" August 1996 in UPBAT (Unit Pembinaan Budidaya Ikan Air Tawar), Singosari¬Purwokerto, Central Java. The application of Carbaryl is given by soil incorpora¬tion technique in safe dosis on field. Fish was cultured seven days after the application. The results indicated that residues of Carbaryl on standing water varies between 0.005 - 0.033 ppm. Meanwhile, the bio-accumulation of Carbaryl both on C. carpio and 0. niloticus were noted of 0.001 - 0.009 ppm and 0.003 - 0.018 ppm respectively. These showed that residue of Carbaryl on standing water were still under the limit that allowed by goverment (PP No.20, year : 1990). Meanwhile the bio-accumula¬tion of Carbaryl both on C. carpio and 0. niloticus were still under the limit that allowed by goverment.
