Abstract
In Indonesia, Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI), especially syphilis was increasing 10%. STI was a co factor of HIV infection. Data from Grobogan District showed the number of HIV case increasing significantly, in 2007 the number of HIV was 27, while in 2008 increases until 58 cases and 20% of them were dead. The prevalence of STI among FSW was high, data from 2006 showed; in Koplak Brothel found 18% syphilis cases and 6,5% HIV cases. In 2007, syphilis cases were decreasing to 21,5%, but HIV&ADIS cases were increasing to 8,3%. Besides the improvement of STI prevalence in Koplak Brothel, the strategic location of Koplak Brothel in central town with low price of FSW has a contribution to STI infection including HIV and AIDS. The aim of this study was to know factors related practicing FSWs for protecting STI and HIV & AIDS in Brotel Koplak Grobogan district. This study was an explanatory research using cross sectional approach with qualitative and quantitative combination. For quantitative data collection structured questionnaire were used for 70 participants. The analysis of this study was based upon univariate and bivariate using Fhiser‟s Excat and the multivariate are not use logistic regression because data is not up to standart. For qualitative method collecting data with in-depth interview were done by 7 responder which 3 responder were practicing good and 4 others were practicing not good. Data analized with content analisis. The result of the research showed just 7 % responder practicing always condom use and two independent variable which significant with FSWs practicing on protecting STI and HIV & AIDS there are perceived benefit in prevention (p value 0.021) and perceived self efficacy (p value 0.004). There variables which not significantly with practicing FSWs on protecting STI and HIV & AIDS are perceived severity, perceived susecptibility and perceived of cues to action Suggested to the Grobogan Health Office on determining of preventing and overcoming policy of STI and HIV & AID, it is necessary to increase knowledge about STI, perceived susceptibility, perceived self efficacy by testimonial,peer group from them who still maintaining to use condom which facilitated and manage by District Health Office.
