Petani dan Tembakau Gupernemen di Karesidenan Rembang pada Periode Penanaman Tanaman Wajib

Abstract

Tabak was one of some plants that was chosen by Netherlands Gouvernment as an export commodity. This plans needs special treatment since the land and seed preparation, planting system until the irrigation. Besides, tabak’s planting period was longer than food plant’s. This paper discusses about gouvernment’s and public tabak cultivation in Rembang Residency in Cultivation Systems Period. Historical research is used to answer how gouvernment’s and public tabak cultivation system was done in Rembang Residency, and to answer if the Cultivation System made the people who must do the Cultivation System life in difficulties or not. The link between peasant’s subsistence life with cultivation systems makes me use social economic approach. Generally, people say that Cultivation Systems made Indonesian people suffered. This paper is written to identify that opinion.
