Abstract

In this present request for coal very high. To know coal quality, so we need consider to several parameters, i.e. Ash Content, Total Moisture (TM), Fixed Carbon (FC) and Calorific Value (CV). Beside that we must know about lithology non coal on coal bedding (parting). . The purpose from final research on PT. Bumi Murau Coal is to know that spreading pattern of coal and parting based on geophysical log and bore log; analyze to influence of parting towards in coal quality and to understand classification of coal rank on research area. Research method from final project in the form survey methods, descriptive method and analyze methods. To analyze methods, we have any analyze, i.e. difference ways to analyze types of coal quality and isoquality map result. His analyze can use according to software such as AutoCAD, Coreldraw dan Surfer 8. Wells on research area have 21 boreholes, 5 boreholes have obtained and shown a parting. From the correlation of all boreholes data, the thickness of coal seam X have ranges 35 m – 60 m. Coal samples would analysis to know coal quality by two ways, i.e. (1) all of coal and parting samples will be analysis, called Coal A and (2) analysis samples without parting samples, called Coal A’. The result of this analysis shown that Coal A have coal quality values, i.e. Ash = 3,03%, TM = 46,94%, FC = 38,84% and CV = 5317,42 cal/gr (9571,36 Btu/lb). Whereas, Coal A’ have coal quality values, i.e. Ash = 2,97%, TM = 46,95%, FC = 38,85% and CV = 5322,36 cal/gr (9580,25Btu/lb). Classification of coal seam X rank by ASTM D388 – 1999 Classification is Sub-bituminous B.
