Abstract

THE EFFECT OF GREEN TEA TO THE TOTAL ERYTHROCYTE COUNT ON BALB/C MICE WERE GIVEN BY METHOTREXATE Background: One important benefit of green tea is to stop oxidant production in the human body. This could be happen because of polifenol which has active substance that is catechin. Experimental studies provide strong evidence that catechin could stimulate mice’s bone marrow, after given by radiation. This research was purposed to investigate the effect of green tea on increasing total erythrocyte count in balb/c mice, which is given by methotrexate. Methods: This was an experimental research with “post test only control group design”. Samples consist of 15 mice, divided into 3 groups randomly: without treatment (control); given metotreksat 0.065 mg/day (treatment group 1); given metotreksat 0.065 mg/day and green tea 46.8 mg/day (treatment group 2). The erythrocyte account were calculated by autoanalyzer cell DYN 3700. Results: Anova test showed that there is no significantly associated between control, treatment 1 and treatment 2 group (P>0.05). Conclusion: Green tea, given orally 46.8mg/day, is not influencing erythrocyte account in the Balb/c mice were given by methotrexate 0.065mg/day orally. Hal ini dimungkinkan karena polifenol yang memiliki senyawa aktif yaitu katekin. Studi eksperimental membuktikan bahwa katekin dapat menstimulasi sumsum tulang mencit, setelah diradiasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh teh hijau terhadap jumlah eritrosit mencit Balb/c yang diberi metotreksat. Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental murni dengan “The Post Test Only Control Group Design.” Sampel terdiri dari 15 ekor mencit Balb/c yang dibagi tiga kelompok secara acak: kelompok tanpa perlakuan (kontrol); kelompok diberi metotreksat 0.065 mg/hari (perlakuan 1); kelompok diberi metotreksat 0.065 mg/hari dan teh hijau 46.8 mg/hari (perlakuan 2). Perhitungan jumlah eritrosit menggunakan autoanalyzer cell DYN 3700. Hasil: Hasil uji statistik Anova menunjukkan tidak terdapat perbedaan yang bermakna antara kelompok kontrol, kelompok perlakuan 1 dan kelompok perlakuan 2 (p>0.05). Kesimpulan: Pemberian Teh Hijau 46.8 mg/hari secara oral tidak memiliki pengaruh terhadap jumlah eritrosit mencit Balb/c yang diberi metotreksat 0.065 mg/hari per oral.
