Abstract
Spatial development is a process to increase spatial condition to reach better human quality of life. Spatial as a natural resource has limited capacity. It has certain carrying capacity to support human activities. It is important to make spatial using and development become sustainable, in order to ensure future generation still can meet their needs to the spatial resource. In this requirement, utilizing the spatial resource should consider available of resource, using efficiency, and equity among location and between generations. The efforts to maintain sustainable develop-ment are carried out in the activities i.e. using the resource in efficient way; preserve natural resource; research on new alternative resource; improve the less waste/pollution production activities. Sustainable spatial development should be applied in the effort to internalize the external cost of the spatial development, in order to maintain the con-tinuity of natural resource supply. This relates to the compensation cost for benefits foregone from certain location, and also replacement cost to rehabilitate the environment damaged.
