Abstract

51 The Effect of Sulphur and Phosphorus Supplementation [Nurhaita et al.] The aim of this research was to get the best combination levels of Sulphur (S) and Phosphorus (P) supplementation to increase in-vitro digestibility of ammoniation palm oil leaves and the rumen liquid char-acteristics. A randomized Block Design on Factorial Pattern (3 x 3) with 3 replications was used to arrange the experiment. The first factor was Sulphur treatment consisted of 3 levels S1 = 0,0% ; S2 = 0,2%; and S3= 0,4% from DM, and the second factor was Phosphor suplementation consisted of 3 levels, that were P1 = 0,0%; P2= 0,27%; and P3 = 0, 54% ofDM. The parameters measured were 1) in-vitro digestibility (DMD,OMD and CPD); 2) Fiber fraction digestibility (NDF,ADF, cellulose and hemicelluloses) and 3) The rumen liquid characteristics by in-vitro. The results of the research indicated that the treatments of Sulphur (S) and Phosphorus (P) supplementation increased significantly in vitro digestibility of ammoniation palm oil leaves. The combination of S2P1 level ( 0,4% S and 0,27% P of DM) improved digestibility especially for dry matter digestibility (DMD), in which equal to 36,68% compared to control ( S0P0) ( 34,67% vs 47,39%) and ADF digestibility increased about 51,17% compared to control ( S0P0) ( 29,27% vs 44,24%). The supplementation of S and P could maintain rumen liquid characteristics at optimum condition for the growth and rumenഊmicrobe activities. In Conclusion, the best combination of S and P supplementation to increase in-vitro digestibility of ammoniation palm oil leaves was at S2P1 level ( 0.4% S and 0.27% P of DM). Keywords: Ammoniation palm oil leave,, S and P Supplementation, In-vitro Digestibility, Rumen Liquid Characteristic.
