The Supply Analysis of Broiler Farmer in Sub District of Suruh-Semarang Regency

Abstract

Developing of broiler farming to increase meat production is assumed to be useful, especially to supply the substitution of beef and buffalo meat import, in which cattle and buffalo population have decreased. In addition broiler can supply meat for society which is low in price so that their animal protein consumption can increase. The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of DOC price, chicken feed, drug and broiler prices and laborwage on broiler price to broiler supply. The descriptive method was used in this research, while the data were collected using survey method. The 60 respondents were selected by purposively among the 200 of broiler’s farmer at Suruh Sub District, Semarang Regency. The results of this study indicated that on all the various variables including DOC price, chicken feed price, drug price, labor wage and broiler price influenced broiler supply which was analyzed by using Trans log supply function model, and each having regression coefficients of 0.3688; 1.7079; -2.9779; 5.2588 and 3.6565.
