Abstract

Pendahuluan : industri tahu termasuk industri rumah tangga yang mendatangkan manfaat bagi masyrakat. Namun dapat juga memberikan dampak negatif kepada lingkungan sekitar. Demikian halnya denbgan pabrik tahu "Sido Mulyo" dalam pembuangan limbah cair yang dihasilkan lansung ke badan air tanpa mengalami pengolahan terlebih dahulu sehinnga dapat menyebabkan pencemaran terhadap lingkungan. Pabrik "Sido Mulyo" dalam sehari menghasilkan limbah cair kurang lebih 5 m3. Pemeriksaan awal terhadap kadar BOD adalah 663mg/l yang berarti melampaui baku mutu limbah cair yang diperbolehkan yaitu 150 mg/l. Upaya untuk menurunkan kadar BOD limbah cair industri tahu dapat dilakukan dengan pengolahan limbah secara biologis dengan menggunakan EM dan secara kimiawi dengan menggunakan zeolit. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui kemampuan EM dan zeolit dalam menurunkan kadar BOD limbah cair industri tahu.Jenis penelitian ini explanatory dengandesain penelitian eksperimen, sedangkan rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah One Group Pretest-Posttest. subyek dala penelitian ini adalah limbah cair industri tahu "Sido Mulyo", adapun sampel yang diperiksa sebanyak 80 liter. Uji statistik yang dipakai adalah Anova dan Least Significant Difference (LSD). Hasil analisa dengan uji anova adalah ada perbedaan yang significant kadar BOD limbah cair industri tahu setelah perlakuan dengan EM, Zeolit, EM dan Zeolit diantara berbagai variasi dosis yang ditambahkan. Sedangkan hasil dari LSD adalah pada perlakuan dengan EM menunjukkan bahwa mean differenca tertinggi pada dosis 2ml/l. Pada perlakuan dengan mean difference tertinggi pada dosis 5 g/l, pada perlakuan dengan EM dan zeolit mean difference tertinggi pada dosis 2 ml/l dan 5 g/l. Saran yang dapat diberikan adalah pengusaha industri tahu dapat menggunakan EM dan Zeolit sebagai teknologi dalam pengolahan limbah cair yang dihasilkan sebelum dibuang ke badan sungai. However, it can also give negative effects to sourroundings environtment. Likewise tofu factory of "Sido Mulyo" in throwing liquid waste which is produced directly to the water body without getting any processes first, thus it can the pollution in the environtment. Tofu factory of "Sido Mulyo" produces liquid waste approximately 5 m3 in day. The preliminary treatment againts BOD degree is 663 mg/l,it means that it exceeds the quality standart of liquid waste which is permitted, namely in the amount of 150 mg/l. An effort for decreasing BOD degree of liquid waste in tofu factory can be done with biologically waste processing by using EM (Effective Microorganism)and chemically by using zeolit. The aim of this research is to know the ability of EM and zeolit decreasing BOD degree of liquid waste in tofu factory. Kind of the research is explanatory with experimental research design, meanwhile research design used was one group pretest-posttest. The subject in the research was liquid waste in tofu factory "Sido Mulyo", the sample treated was in the amaount of 80 liters. Stastistical test used was anova and Least Significant Difference (LSD). The analysis result by using anova test is that there is a significant difference of BOD degree of liquit waste in tofu factory after having treatment with EM and zeolit, among any dose variation which are added. Meanwhile the result of LSD test is in the treatment with EM indicates that the highest mean defference is in dose 2 ml/l. In the treatment with zeolit the highest mean defference is in dose 5 g/l, in the treatment with EM and zeolit the highest mean defference is in dose 2 ml/l and 5 g/l. The suggestion which can be given for tofu industry of "Sido Mulyo" is the enterpreneur of tofu industry can use EM and zeolit as a technology in processing produced liquid waste prior to be thrown to the river body.
