ABSTRACT Corn be an important agricultural commodity and have relationship with the big industries. Not only for consume as a vegetable, the corn also processed become various offood and the dry shelled of the corn was used as food for livestock This condition was made corn cultivation has a goodprospect, not only for demand aspect, but also from sell price aspect. In expansion, corn farmers meet some problems such as the low level ofproductivity, price ofproduction factors (seeds, fertilizer, labor force and pecticide) every year will go up and price ofcorn isfluctuate. The purpose of this study is to analyze the allocation of the use of production factors cornfarming industry at Magelang municipality. Furthermore, this study aim to analyze the level ofefficiency on this industry which comprises of price, technical and economic efficiency. Systematic random sampling is used to gather sample which amount to 110 respondents. Cobb-Douglass profit function, maximum profit estimation, test ofreturn to scale and efficiency examination are methods to analyze the data. This study concludes the inefficiency ofthe use ofinput at the study area. This is suggested by the value oftechnical efficiency, 0,92. Regarding this result, farmer should decrease the use ofproduction input. Price andeconomic efficiency calculation are not efficien eithert. The variabll in corn farming industry and have significant impact are wide of land variable, seeds, P fertilizer, and K fertilizer. While variables that not significant are Nfertilizer, pecticide and labor force. In this study, test of return to scale (RTS) is 1,07. This show that corn farming industry at the place is increasing return to scale (IRS) condition, so with this condition cornfarming industry is proper or suitable to develop.
