HUBUNGAN KARAKTERISTIK PERUSAHAAN TERHADAP LUAS PENGUNGKAPAN SUKARELA DI INDONESIA (Studi pada perusahaan manufaktur dan non-manufaktur yang listing di BEI)

Abstract

This study examines the level of voluntary disclosure in the annual report ofnon-financial Indonesia firms listed on the Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI), and to empirically investigate the hypothesized impact ofseveralfirm characteristics on the extent ofvoluntary disclosure . The voluntary disclosure samples consisting of 20 voluntary items was developed to measure the extent of voluntary disclosure in the 2007 annual reports of 86 firms and multiple regression analysis was employed to test the research hypothesis. The result ofthis research provides evidence that voluntary disclosure in the annual report is significantly and positively associated with firm size. return on equity, leverage and profit margin significantly and negatively associated with the extent of voluntary disclosure in the annual report. Age firm, ownership dispersion, liquidity,market-related variables and audit firm size are not significantly associated with the extent ofvoluntary disclosure.
