Abstract

Background: Conjunctivitis vernalis (CV) usually associated with atopic background, but there is no statistical evidence based. This study was aimed to asses the relationship between CV with atopic history in patients that came to eye centre of Kariadi hospital. Methods: This was a case control study without matching with logistic regression, using 40 sample of CV that came to eye centre of Kariadi hospital. Retrospectively, the history of atopic disorder was asked in depth interview, compared to control group. The data including ages, sex, and atopic background were analyzed using Chi square test with SPSS for Windows 13.90. Results: The man with CV was more than women. The sex has significant relationship (p=0,03). The age 20 was more than 20. The age 20 has significant relationship (p=0,004). The age 20 has OR3,8. The p value of Chi square test was p0,05. The dermatitis has no significant relationship (p=0,284); urticaria has no significant relationship (p=0,105); allergic rhinitis has no significant relationship (p=0,524); asthma has no significant relationship (p=0,305). The logistic regression tests between dermatitis, urticaria, and asthma and allergy rhinitis allergy with CV have no significant relationship. Conclusion: The CV has no significant relationship with atopic background (p0,05). The atopic history was not the significant risk factor of CV (OR1), but a patient with atopic background has 0,739 probability to became CV than normal people.
