HUBUNGAN KERAGAMAN ACTIVITY SUPPORT TERHADAP TERBENTUKNYA IMAGE KORIDOR STUDI KASUS : JLN. PROF. SUDHARTO

Abstract

Kecamatan Tembalang sebelumnya adalah sebuah desa, namun sejak diadakan proyek pengembangan kampus terpadu Universitas Diponegoro di Tembalang, secara perlahan daerah Tembalang mulai mengalami perubahan yang cukup signifikan. Dengan adanya Kampus Universitas Diponegoro di kawasan Tembalang diyakini bermunculan beragam activity support di sepanjang Jalan Prof. Sudharto sebagai akses utama menuju Kampus Universitas Diponegoro yang didominasi untuk pemenuhan kebutuhan mahasiswa. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara keragaman activity support dengan terbentuknya image masyarakat kampus, serta mengetahui serial vision tentang image masyarakat kampus yang terbentuk di sepanjang koridor tersebut. Image suatu kota atau kawasan berkaitan erat dengan tiga komponen yaitu identitas, struktur, dan makna. Penelitian tentang image menjadi sangat penting untuk mengetahui apakah produk rancangan suatu kota berhasil atau tidak berhasil dipahami oleh masyarakat luas sebagai pengamat. Untuk dapat mengetahui seberapa besar image masyarakat kampus terbentuk pada koridor Jl. Prof. Sudharto maka dilakukan penelitian menggunakan metodologi penelitian post positivistik rasionalistik dengan mengamati activity support yang terdapat di sepanjang sisi jalan. Agar memudahkan dalam pembahasan maka koridor Jl. Prof. Sudharto dibagi dalam 3 segmen berdasarkan pada macam aktivitas yang terdapat di sepanjang sisi jalan, dan pengamatan dilakukan pada pagi dan sore/malam hari. Diduga bahwa semakin mendekati kampus maka image yang terbentuk akan makin kuat, namun hasil penelitian tidak sesuai dengan hipotesis/dugaan awal sesuai teori yang digunakan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa semakin mendekati kampus image yang terbentuk justrus semakin lemah. Hal ini dimungkinkan karena image masyarakat kampus yang terbentuk pada koridor Jl. Prof. Sudharto tidak hanya berdasarkan pada identitas, struktur, dan makna namun juga perlu dikaitkan dengan konsentrasi sirkulasi akibat tempat tinggal mahasiswa sebagai masyarakat kampus yang tersebar di kawasan Tembalang. Tembalang district (Kecamatan) was a rural area, but since there’s a development project of Diponegoro University, this area had changed slowly. The existance of Diponegoro University in Tembalang is believed emerging various activity support along this corridor as the main acces to Diponegoro University which is dominated by activity support that provide primary needs for college student. The purpose of this research are to find out the connection beetwen many kinds of activity support to the image of corridor and to know serial vision about image of college society that built along this corridor. Image of a city may be analyzed into three components : identity, structure, and meaning. Research about image being so important to know if architecture product of the city can be understood by citizen as observer or not. A research using post positivistic rasionalistic to observe acticity support along Prof. Sudharto street is conducted to find out how stong college society image has buit in this corridor. To make this research easier to be analyzed, this corridor is separated into three segments based on kinds of activity support along this corridor and the research is done in two period of time (day and night). The hypothesis is closer to the collage image of college society will be stronger, but the result of the research is not exatly same as the hypothesis. The strongest image is in the farest segment from the college, closer to the collage image of college society is getting weaker. That may be because image of college society that built in Prof. Sudharto street not only caused by identity, structure, and meaning but also need to connected with concentration circulation of student as college society who live around Tembalang.
