Abstract
Asthma prevalent that was diagnosed by Telogoredjo Hospital in the year 2004 had increased drastically by 63.20%. While the number of asthma child patient by the year of 2004 also had increase by 15.83%. United State Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) stated that environmental can caused asthma attack. Environmental house can give contribution to factor that caused asthma more than outdoor environment. This research was done to know the relation of house condition and family behavior with the attack of child asthma. The research was done in Semarang city by using the design of cross sectional analytic survey method to 50 respondent of parent whose child had asthma. The research variable divided into dependent variable of house condition and family behavior. The house condition consist of air humidity, lights intensity, household furniture facility which is potential as allergen sources, existence of dust, and the width of ventilation or window. The family behavior consist of AC usage, volatile organic compound material usage, animal keeping, insecticide usage and family members who smoke cigarettes. The independent variable is attack of asthma child. Chi-Square was used to determine the relation between house condition and family behavior with attack of asthma child. To determine dominant house condition and family behavior in relation with attack of asthma child used by multiple logistics regression analysis. The Result of this research show air humidity, existence of dust and the air conditioner usage related to the attack of asthma child. Result of multiple logistics regression analysis show that the dominant house condition and family behavior which in relation with attack of asthma child are AC usage and existence of dust.
