Abstract
The economic growth of Semarang city as the capital city of central java province are performed soundly. Consequently, publics transport such as taxi service are demanded. However, the taxi fleet seems to be over in supply. Thereafter the efficiency in taxi company is hardly to be achieved. The study is aimed to analyze the efficiency of inputs use by taxi service in Semarang city. It is expected, the study will provide a proper recommendation to the users, management and decision makers of taxi services. The Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) has been applied to estimate the efficiency of six taxi companies in Semarang city. The operational time of taxi and total journey were account as the input, while the total trips and revenue were considered as the output. The results indicated that most of the taxi observed were not efficient in operation in order to minimize the inputs. The technical efficiency is found less than 100 (minimum score is 74,24 and maximum score is 80,69) Perkembangan perekonomian kota Semarang menunjukkan peningkatan yang relatif pesat sehingga memerlukan sarana angkutan taksi yang memadai. Namun jumlah armada taksi yang meningkat pesat dapat menyebabkan inefisiensi dalam industri jasa taksi di kota Semarang. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengukur efisiensi perusahaan taksi di Semarang. Studi ini dapat memberikan masukan bagi semua pihak terkait tentang usaha taksi. Pengukuran efisiensi dilakukan dengan metode Data Envelopment Analyis (DEA) terhadap 6 (enam) perusahaan taksi dikota Semarang dengan variabel input meliputi : jam operasi kendaraan dan total perjalanan serta variabel output meliputi : perjalanan isi dan penghasilan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perusahaan taksi yang diamati belum efisien karena nilai efisiensi teknis relatifnya belum mencapai 100 (minimum 74,24 dan maksimum 80,69). Dengan demikian disarankan bahwa perusahaan taksi tersebut dapat lebih efisien dengan meminimalkan input yang dipakai.
