Abstract

Kata kunci : energi, asam lemak, lemak tubuh, itik jantan, daerah tropik ABSTRACT The purpose of this research was to study the effect of different dietary ratio levels of combination between carbohydrates and fats as energy sources, and of dietary ratio levels of saturated to unsaturated fatty acids on the production performance and body fats of male ducks in a tropical area. The experiment was done following a 3x3 factorial design based on three ratio levels of dietary carbohydrate to dietary fats (3; 5.5; and 8), and three ratio levels of dietary saturated to unsaturated fatty acids (0.6; 0.9; and 1.2). Each dietary treatment had four replications of five male ducklings each. The experimental diets were formulated based on nutrient requirements of 1 to 3 week old and 4 to 9 week old duckling. The results indicated that both factors in the respective factorial design cause differences (P<0.05) on abdominal fat pad, fats and unsaturated fatty acids as well as meat cholesterol. Keywords: nergy sources, fatty acids, body fats, male ducks, tropical area
