Abstract

During this time, the used frying oil is thrown and become the waste contaminating environment. It has potency to be used the material in making polyurethane. Before used as raw material in making polyurethane, it has to be converted into polyol. Later; The polyol from the used frying oil is reacted by toluene diisocyanate (TDI). This research aim to know the ratio TDI/POLYOL influence and sum up ethylene glikol to the compressive strength of polyurethane. Its data processing and attempt scheme use method central composite design. Variable selected as free variable is ratio TDI/POLYOL and sum up ethylene glikol. While variable selected as fixed variable are temperature (room temperature) and the mass volume react 300 ml. Sum up run attempt which must be done as much 10 run. But polyurethane yielded run 2, 4, 5 and 8 cannot be measured a compressive strength so that the data obtained incomplete and cannot be processed with method of central composite design. With method of obtainable graph, conclusion that polyurethane made with addition of ethylene glycol more amount (11,7 ml ; 40 ml) and ratio of same TDI/POLYOL (2) has the higher compressive strength (196.85 ; 456.65), polyurethane made with ratio of TDI/POLYOL larger ones (1 ; 3) but ethylene glykol enhanced less (20 ml) has compressive strength lower (288.45 ; 134.15) and polyurethane made with ratio of TDI/POLYOL larger ones (2 ; 3,414) with addition of ethylene glykol which enough (40 ml) will have the higher compressive strength (452.7 ; 832.15). Polyurethane which has the highest compressive strength (832.15 N) made with ratio of TDI/POLYOL 3,414 and sum up ethylene glikol 40 ml
