Abstract

One of the negative impacts of wood processing industry, is air pollution caused by wood ash that occurred during the process or as the output of the industry. The wood ash will contaminate the industry area as well as the environment so not only the workers, but also the people living around the factory will be exposed to ash from raw material, added material, and the output, thus causing lung function disturbance. The aim of this research is to measure the risk of factors that causes lung function disturbance to the workers in wood processing industry at PT Surya Sindoro Sumbing Wood Industry Wonosobo. This is an observational research using cross-sectional design. The samples are workers that fulfill the criteria inclusively and exclusively as many as 70 persons. This research was done in February 2005 and the data collection was done using 'wood ash content measurement in Furniture Component (FC) and Wood Working Area (WWA) sections, lung function capacity measurement, body height and body weight measurements, as well as interview with the respondents. This research showed that the amount of the wood ash in WWA and FC of 6.1452mg/m3 and 4.0101Mg/m3 respectively; and the average of lung function capacity on the workers is 92.04% FEVI/FVC with standard deviation of 6.68 with the lowest and the highest rate of 66% FEVI/FVC and 100% FEVI/FVC respectively. The data analysis in this research used chi-square test, Independent t , Test,while the multivariat analysis used logistic regression test with enter method. The statistics test showed that there is a relationship between the working period, and the smoking habit with lung function capacity (p<0.05),there's no significant, difference of lung function between WWA workers and FC workers (p>0.05). The logistic regression test proved that the working period and the smoking habit at the same time can become the risk factor of the lung function disturbance. As such, smoking prohibition during working hours in the wood processing industry should be applied in order to avoid lung function disturbance among the workers. Salah satu dampak negatif dari ,industri pengolahan kayu adalah timbulnya peneemaran udara oleh debu kayu yang timbul pada proses pengolahan atau hasil industri tersebut. Debu kayu ini akan meneemari daerah industri dan lingkungannya sehingga pekerja maupun masyarakat di sekitar industri dapat terpapar oleh debu kayu balk karena bahan baku, bahan antara ataupun produlc akhir sehingga dapat berpengaruh terhadap timbulnya gangguan fungsi paru. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur besar risiko berbagai faktor yang ‘berpengaruh terhadap gangguan fungsi paru pada pekerja industri pengolahan kayu P.T. Surya Sindoro Sumbing Wood Industry — Wonosobo. Dalam penelitian ini dilakukan studi observasional dengan pendekatan cross-sectional sebagai sampel 70 orang. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Februari tahun 2005 .Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan pengukuran kadar debu kayu di bagian Furniture Component (F.C) dan Wood Working Area (WWA), pengulcuran kapasitas fungsi paru, pengukuran berat/tinggi badan clan wawancara dengan responden. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kadar debu kayu di bagian WWA 6,1452 mg/m3 dan kadar debu kayu di bagian FC 4,0101 mg/m3. Rata-rata kapasitas fungsi paru pekerja 92,04% FEVI/FVC dengan standar deviasi 6,68 sedang nilai terendah 66% FEVI/FVC dan nilai tertinggi 100% FEVI/FVC. Analisis data pada penelitian ini rnenggunakan uji Chi Square Test, Independen t Test, analisis multivariat digunakan uji Regresi Logistik dengan metode enter. Hasil uji statistik menunjukkan ada hubungan yang bermakna antara masa kerja dan kebiasaan merokok dengan kapasitas fungsi paru ( p < 0,05), tidal( ada perbedaan yang signifikan fungsi paru pekerja bagian WWA dengan pekerja bagian FC (p>0.05). Hasil uji Regresi Logistik membuktikan masa keija dan kebiasaan merokok seeara bersama-sama menjadi faktor risiko untuk terjadinya gangguan fungsi paru. • Untuk menghindari timbulnya gangguan fungsi paru pada pekerja diadakan larangan merokok pada saat bekerja atau di lingkungan industri pengolahan kayu.
