Abstract

The production process of an iron work industry may result in various negative impacts. One of the negative impact resulting from the iron work industry is hot working environment. The hot working environment gives the employees additional burden and it may result in worsening of their health, especially the metabolism their body. Consequently, it result in the fatigue that further causes the decrease in their working productivity. The fatigue may be clearly observed on the basis of the measurement of reaction time of light stimuli. The study aims at determining factor related to reaction time of light stimuli of the employees exposed to heat in PT. Baja Kurnia Ceper, Klaten. The study using cross sectional approach. The samples of study are 43 individuals. It was conducted on January — may 2005. Data was collected using measurement of ambient temperature in the production room, measurement of the fatigue with the reaction time of light stimuli, counting of arterial pulse, measurement of body weihgtthigh and interview with respondent. Data was analyzed by using Pearson Product Moment Corelation Independent t-Test and Multiple Linier Regression of backward method Result of the study indicated that ambient temperature was 30,64°C, age was 34,35 on average, nutritional status 19,89 on average, working periode was 8,23 on average, the pre-working of reaction time of light stimuli was 352,46 mmdet on average, and the post-working of reaction time of light stimuli was 500,78 mmdet on average, while 27 employees were in the condition of helath dan 16 employees were in the condition of not helath Result of statistical test indicated that there was a significant correlation between ambient temperature and reaction time of light stimuli (p-0,001), there was a significant correlation between age and reaction time of light stimuli (p=0,028), there was a significant correlation between nutritional status and reaction time of light stimuli (p-0,001), there was a significant correlation between working perode and reaction time of light stimuli (p=0,022), there was a significant correlation between working burder and reaction time of light stimuli (p=0,004), there was not any defference in reaction time of light stimuli in the group pf health respondents andthat of not health respondents. Results of Multiple Linier Regression indicated that ambient temperature, nutritional status, working periode and working burden were collectively correlated to reaction time of light stimuli. To reduce the heat exposure and presence of the fatigue, the employees were required to take a good rest in break hours outside the production room. Proses produksi dalam suatu industri peleburan logam dapat menimbulkan berbagai dampak negatif Salah satu dampak negatif yang dihasilkan dad industri peleburan logam adalah lingkungan ketja yang panas. Lingkungan kerja yang papas sebagai beban tambahan bagi tenaga kerja yang dapat menimbulkan gangguan kesehatan terutama metabolisme tribuh sehingga dapat mengakibatkan kelelahan yang dapat menurunkan produktivitas kerja. Kelelahan dapat diketahui berdasarkan pengukuran waktu reaksi rangsang cahaya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan kelelahan pada tenaga kerja yang terpapar panas di PT. Baja Kumia Ceper Klatena Dalam penelitian ini dilakukan studi observasional dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Sampel,pada penelitian ini yaitu sebanyak 43 orang. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Januari - Mei 2005. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan pengukuran suhu lingkungan di ruang produksi, pengukuran kelelahan dengan waktu reaksi rangsang cahaya, penghitungan denyut nadi, pengukuran berat/tinggi badan dan wawancara dengan responden. Analisis data pada penelitian ini menggunakan uji korelasi Pearson Product Moment, Independent Nest dan regresi Linier berganda dengan metode backward. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rcrata suhu lingkungan 30,63°C, rcrata umur 34,35 tahun, rerata status gizi 19,89, remta masa kerja 8,23 tahun, rerata denyut nadi kerja 127,98 denyut/menit, rerata waktu reaksi rangsang cahaya sebelum kerja 352,46 mmdet, rerata waktu reaksi rangsang cahaya sesudah 500,78 mmdet, 27 pekerja dalam kondisi sehat dan 16 pekerja dalam kondisi tidak sehat. Hasil uji statistik menunjukkan ada hubungan yang bennakna antara suhu lingkungan dengan waktu reaksi rangsang cahaya (p= 0,001), ada hubungan yang bennakna antara umur dengan waktu reaksi rangsang cahaya (p-0,028), ada hubungan yang bennakna antara status gizi dengan waktu reaksi rangsang cahaya ,(p=0,001), ada hubungan yang bennakna antara masa kerja dengan waktu reaksi rangsmig, cahaya (p-0,022), ada hubungan yang bennakna antara beban kerja dengan waktu reaksi rangsang cahaya (p=0,004) dan tidak ada perbedaan waktu reaksi rangsang cahaya pada kelompok responden sehat dan tidak sehat. Hasil uji Regresi Linier berganda menunjukkan suhu lingkungan, status gizi, masa kerja dan beban kerja secara bersama-sama berhubungan dengan waktu reaksi rangsang cahaya. Untuk mengurangi paparan panas dan timbulnya kelelahan, para pekerja diharuskan pada jam istirahat untuk beristirahat di luar ruang produksi.
