PERBANDINGAN EFEK TERAPI ARUS INTERFERENSI DENGAN TENS DALAM PENGURANGAN NYERI PADA PENDERITA NYERI PUNGGUNG BAWAH MUSKULOSKELETAL

Abstract

Paliyama MJ. The comparison of the therapeutic effects of Interferential Current therapy and TENS in pain reduction on musculoskeletal low back pain. Scientific research. 2004 ; 1 — 76. Oliective to compare the therapeutic effects of interferential ctirrent and TENS on patients with musculoskeletal low back pain. Desian : Pre and Post test control group design. Participants : thirty — four out patients men and women subacute and chronic musculoskeletal LBP, ranging from 20 to 50 years of age were divided into two randomized groups, the Interferential group and TENS group which consisted of 18 subjects respectively. ,Setting : Medical Rehabilitation Division of Dr. Kariadi Hospital, Semarang. Time : April 2003 to September 2003. Interventions : The interferential group received interferential current therapy on back pain area for 15 minutes, this therapy was given in 9 session for 2 weeks. During The first week, the patients got the therapy 6 times a week, and during the second week they got it 3 times a week. The TENS group got the therapy on the same area with the same frequency arid duration as the interferential group. Main outcome measures : Pain reduction assessed by Visual Analogue Pain Rating Scale ( VAS ). Result : Significant decrease of VAS ( p = 0,000) was found on the interferential group and also with the TENS group ( p = 0,001) however there was no significant difference between the two treatment group on the decrease of VAS ( p > 0,05) Conclusion : Both interferential current and TENS therapies were capable of reducing pain on patients with musculoskeletal LBP, with no significant differences between them. Tu uan : Membandingkan efek terapi ants interferensi dengan TENS dalam pengurangan nyeri punggung bawah muskuloskeletal. Rancangan : Pre and post test control group design. Subvek : Tiga puluh empat subyek pria dan wanita rawat jalan dengan NPB muskuloskeletal subakut dan kronik bentsia 21 — 50 tahun, terbagi secara acak menjadi 2 kelompok, yaiiu kelompok anis interferensi dan kelompok TENS, masing masing terdiri dart 17 subyek. Tempat Divisi Rehabilitasi medik RS Dr. Kariadi Semarang. Waktu : April 2003 sampai September 2003. Perlakuan : Kelompok interferensi mendapat terapi arus interferensi pada daerah punggung yang nyeri selama 15 menit, diberikan sebanyak 9 kali selama 2 minggu, minggu pertama 6 kali berturut — turut, kemudian 3 kali seminggu selang 2 — 3 hart. Kelompok TENS mendapat terapi dengan TENS pada daerah punggung yang nyeri selama 15 menit, diberikan sebanyak 9 kali selama 2 minggu, minggu pertama 6 kali berturut — turut, kemudian 3 kali seminggu selang 2 — 3 hart. Hasil pengukuran utama : Pengurangan nyeri dinilai dengan Visual Analogue Scale ( VAS ). Hasil : Pada kelompok interferensi terjadi penurunan VAS secara bennakna ( p = 0,000). Pada kelompok TENS juga terjadi penurunan nilai VAS secara bennakna ( p = 0,001). Tidal( ada perbedaan bermakna antara kedua kelompok terapi dalam hal penurunan nilai VAS ( p > 0,05 ). Kesimpulan : Terapi dengan arus interferensi maupun TENS mampu mengurangi nyeri dengan perbedaan yang tidak bermakna.
