Abstract
The primary activity of the bank, as an intermedia•y institution, is to accumulate the fund and distribute it to users as a credit In order to capture the potential risk of credit, it is necessary to analyze sonic factors, those are character, collateral, credit proposed and capacity. The objective of the study was to test the relationship of the precending factors to the credit approval. The first hipothesis is each factor have a significant impact to the credit approval. The second hypothesis is all preceding factors above have a significant impact too. There were 100 debitors for the period ended 1998 include as a sample, represent 14,4% of the population. The sample is representing all characteristics of the population, such as its collectability and its sectors. The statistical method used in this research is linear regresion, then i-Iest and. F-test on the 5% level of significance. The autocorelation test shows that there is no linear relationship between independence variables, and that there was no corelation between disturbance factors, because the Durbin Waston test shows value of 2,2759 The statistical results shows that collateral, capacity and credit proposed are both influence significantly to the credit approval. 'the impact of the cretht proposed bigger than the collateral and capacity, that is shown with the regression coefficient. The important thing was shown with the character, as a dinimiv variable, that no influence significantly to the credit approval. The empirical case shown that the credit approval for the known debetors are higher than for the new debetors. it is paralel with the statistical result that re&ession coefficient is positive. The result of this research also shown F-test is significant, which mean that both factors, character, collateral, credit proposed and capacity arc influence to the credit approval.
