Abstract

In a row with the decreasing of energy resources and the condition of oil fuel that getting rare in Indonesia in several months, there is need some alternative energy resources, which is cheap and environment friendly, one of them which called biogas. Biogas produced from organic waste, like rubbish, last night food, animal feces, and waste from food industries. Fermentation process from thus components can produce biogas which is contain CH4 (55% – 75%) and CO2 (25% - 45%). Now, biogas still used in household scale and did not optimally used. Because it is still contain high presence of CO2 so heating value also getting low. To reduce presence of CO2 in this biogas, the NaOH solution could be taken to absorb CO2 continously in reactor (absorber). In this experiment, use variable of NaOH rate to how much CO2 got absorb and CH4 got produce. CO2 absorption process starting by use NaOH solution continuosly on the top of the tower with fixed rate, then biogas sprayed from the bottom of the tower. Gas and liquid would have contact process and chemical recation held. Every 3 minutes, NaOH solution after getting absorb analyzed the presence of CO2 that getting absorb with acidi-alkalymetri method. From this analysing and calculation, CO2 that have been absorb and CH4 could be produce, increases in a row with the smaller rate of NaOH solution. Maximum %CO2 that getting absorb is 58,11% and %CH4 that could be produce is 74,13%.
